The 93rd Academy Awards, better known as the “Oscars” honored some of the best films and performances from films from 2020 and 2021. There were older legends in film that took home honors as well as upcoming actors that made their big splash.
Nomadland won several awards for their film and the crew. It took home best film honors over films like Judas and the Black Messiah, The Trial of the Chicago Seven, and The Father. Chloé Zhao also won for the Best Director for Nomadland as well as Frances McDormand for Best Actress in a leading role.
Daniel Kaluuya took home the Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his portrayal of Fred Hampton in Judas and the Black Messiah. The animated film, Soul, won honors for Best Original Score as well as Best Animated Feature Film. 83-year-old actor Anthony Hopkins won Best Actor in a leading role for his role in The Father. He honored the late Chadwick Boseman in his speech, as many, even Hopkins his self, thought Boseman was the favorite to win.
Other notable films that won were Tenet for Best Visual Effects. Sound of Metal won a couple of Oscars in the Best Film Editing and Best Sound categories.
