South Carolina Defeats UCONN To Win The 2022 NCAA Woman’s National Championship

Last year, the South Carolina Gamecocks’ season ended in the Final Four vs. Stanford. In the last seconds of that game, South Carolina missed two layups that would’ve given them the lead and sent them to the National Championship game. South Carolina’s Aaliyah Boston immediately was sent to tears as she felt the pain of defeat.

This year though, South Carolina removed the proverbial monkey off of their back and defeated UCONN to win the 2022 Women’s National Championship. The decorated Aaliyah Boston, who also was named 2022 National Player of the Year just days ago, dominated on the glass, as she grabbed 16 rebounds to go along with her 11 points. Senior guard Destanni Henderson had arguably the best game of her college career with a career-high 26 points while also playing stellar defense against Paige Bueckers, holding her to just 14 points.

Coach Dawn Staley adds another National Championship to add to her illustrious resume.

The South Carolina Gamecocks won 64-49 to capture yet another National Championship and handed the UCONN Huskies their first loss in the National Championship.
