Performance of the Week: Erin Jackson

This week’s Performance of the Week goes to Erin Jackson. Last week, Jackson became the first black woman to win Gold in the 500-meter speed skating event for the United States. Jackson, at 29 years old has only been skating for six years. She now has become the second black athlete to win any speed skating event at the Olympics and the first American to win Gold in the 500-meter speed skating event since 1994

Jackson almost didn’t even make the Olympics, after she finished 3rd in the Olympic trials, but her teammate and friend gave her spot to Jackson to compete.
