Yesterday, just in time for end of the summer festivities, Dom Kennedy dropped a new mixtape entitled Best After Bobby Two. The mixtape is hosted by LA Leakers and here is the tracklist via Dom’s instagram.

At first listen you definitely get the chill vibe you expect from the west coast rapper but can’t help but to get the feeling he is becoming lazy in the deliverance of his music. This is same man who brought us The Original Dom Kennedy, Westside 1 & 2, as well as The Yellow Album! Don’t get me wrong, there are definitely tracks worth listening to, such as Brooklyn and Sundays on Crenshaw. But there are also songs like All Black Chucks where he attempts to rap over a looped sample from Beyonce’s 7/11 that definitely doesn’t showcase Dom’s best work. Overall I would deem the project worth listening to, after all it is just a mixtape and it’s still Dom Kennedy. Listen to Best After Bobby Two here and see what you think:

October 15 and 16 of this year the Norfolk Arts District will be transforming into the Neon Arts District. On these days from 5-10 PM the areas between Granby Street and the Chrysler Museum will be illuminated with neon lights along with the presence of artists from around the world, a ‘food truck rodeo’, pop up concert stage and much more. The purpose is going to be to try and connect the city of Norfolk which can sometimes be divided and also bring attention to the Arts District being an actual district!

There will concerts and displays at venues including but not limited to Work Release, The Parlor, Push Comedy Theater, and Zeke’s Beans & Bowls. It’s definitely going to be something to experience for Hampton Roads, read more about it on the Hampton Roads website: here.

Majid Jordan dropped the video for their single My Love ft. Drake today that was released back in July. If you’re not too familiar with the duo they made their first appearance in mainstream music on Drake’s Hold On We’re Going Home. Last year they dropped an EP titled ‘A Place Like This’ which also happens to be one of my favorite projects overall from 2014. Check out the video and get yourself acquainted with this super talented group from Canada that are not so coincidentally a part of OVO Sound as well:

Virgil Abloh aka Flat White, long time friend and creative director for Kanye West released a new phenomenal “Grime” mix earlier this week when he joined UK’s Dj Cameo on BBC 1Xtra Radio.

Some I know are unfamiliar with “Grime” music which is the United Kingdoms version of what we call “Trap” music here in America.

Flat White Boiler Room London.
Flat White Boiler Room London.

Both styles of music feature a huge portion of the same topics being Drugs, Violence and simply the real “struggle” if you will. “Grime” is different from “Trap” being that it has a more upbeat almost dubstep feel to it in most songs. Virgil has been a long time supporter of this style of music since its early days. Just 3 months after his legendary “Boiler Room” DJ set in London he blesses us with a “Grime” mix to be remembered that features legendary grime artist such as Skepta, JME and Wiley just to name some. Listen below.

If you were to ask any person “what is one good way to make you happy,” a common response would be good food. For this article on the perfect play, we will be discussing local popular eating destinations. As the saying goes, “breakfast is the most important meal of the day,” we will go in depth a very popular food destination in the city of Norfolk, VA. For any food connoisseur, a good breakfast consists of eggs, a protein, form of carbs, and sometimes gravy. At handsome biscuit, this place offers all of that. Now if you haven’t noticed already in the name of the restaurant itself, this place is all about biscuits. Located close to downtown Norfolk, in the ghent area off of Colonial road, all who come here is in for a sure fire food experience. The first steps in the small restaurant, right away you can smell the sweet potato biscuits baking away and giving off a mouth watering aroma. Having a hipster vibe to the environment, it gives off a very welcoming feeling. On the side wall, written out in chalk is the menu of the delicacies that they offer. With a list of 10 different biscuit combos to choose from, if you haven’t already chosen a favorite, you’re in for a hard decision. Offering choices from the ‘Hella Fitzgerald‘, which is a Fried Chicken with bacon, cheddar, and red eye sausage gravy, to ‘Dill Na Na’, which consists of  Potato Onion Frittata and Arugula with Dill Mayo. If you aren’t satisfied with just the biscuits they also offer add ons and sides for a little extra charge. Along with these there are many more options to choose from, and the best thing about it all is that this restaurant is budget friendly with nothing being more than $6.50. If you’re interested in exploring more about the menu, here is a link to their menu online.

Also for a more visual representation, please take some time and peep the pictures below. Cheers.

As seen in our previous posts, A$AP Rocky has been obliterating the music world with his off the wall unique ‘druggy’ visuals. Yesterday Rocky released the visual for his single “Everyday” featuring Rod Stewart, Miguel and Mark Ronson, Unlike his other recent videos Jukebox Joints and L$D Rocky took a different approach in not going with the ‘druggy’ super colorful feel. In this visual there was more of a concrete storyline explaining the downside of fame and where it can take you eventually if you are not careful. This Emmanuel Cossu directed video also contains cameos from Rod Stewart, Miguel, OG Maco and the one and only “King Of The Youth” Ian Connor. Check this eerie visual from Rocky below.

MediCom Toys and EDM super group Daft Punk have teamed up to make another Be@rbrick. If you are not familiar with it, the Be@rbrick is a collectable cartoon styled figure made to look like a bear; hence the name Be@rbrick.   This particular rendition was made to mimic duo Daft Punk’s 2014 Grammy look. Predominately white with gold accents on each of the mask, mark my words these renditions will be as sought after as its 1000% predecessor. The two must cop figures are slated to release February 2016.

“Abels back with one of the most compelling video I’ve seen in my life”.  This morning, Abel Tesfaye better known as The Weeeknd dropped the visual for “Go Tell Your Friends” produced by Kanye West. Yes its still Yeezy Season.  Juxtaposed to Tesfaye’s usual club scene offering this visual instead follow him as he buries his demons and kill zombies. This visual is also presented in 1:1 aspect ratio which is why there’s a decent amount of black area. The benefit of this ratio in comparison to others is the focus on the subject is more intense making the picture a lot crisper. This visual is more then good. Take a look at the Weeknd latest music video below.

2 Chainz (Tity Boi) has released a new visual titled “If I Didn’t Rap”. It’s a track off his latest mixtape “Trap-A-Velli 3” and was filmed in Miami, Florida by director Sharod Marcus Simpson. Throughout the visual the camera follows 2 Chainz through his usual lavish living style as he is filmed driving his 2015 BMWi8 throughout what seems to be a very wealthy neighborhood. The visual also shows a multitude of other fancy exotic cars, features 2 Chainz smoking weed inside those cars, a cameo from Dj Khaled and not to mention 2 Chaniz “dabbin” in the pool. Check this video shot completely with inverted screen colors out below.
