New PS5 Patent May Bring Backwards Compatibility for PS2 and PS3 games

When details started to come out about the new features of the Playstation 5, backward compatibility was one of the biggest selling points on the console.

Although the backward compatibility only went back to a majority of PS4 games, Sony has now filed a patent to bring make more games available from previous consoles. The patent is for a “Spoof Clock” which would allow older games to run at a playable frequency, essentially ‘tricking’ the new console into accepting the older games.

Sony is also expected to release its new Game Pass this Spring to compete with Xbox.
