Louis Vuitton’s Spring Summer 2023 Show Keeps Virgil’s Spirit Alive with a Performance by Kendrick Lamar and FAMU’s “Marching 100” Band

Throughout his tenure as artistic director at Louis Vuitton, Virgil Abloh continually highlighted black culture in both soundtracks at shows, staff, and clothing. Louis Vuitton’s Spring Summer 2023 Show kept the Virgil spirit alive as we seen FAMU’s all-black “Marching 100” Band take the runway for a classic high energy performance only a legendary HBCU could deliver before Kendrick Lamar grabbed the mic to perform some of his more notable records from his recent album “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.” While being seated and performing Kendrick inserted the late designer’s name into the lyrics before having a brief moment where he even stated “Long Live Virgil, Long Live Virgil” over the “Count Me Out” beat. As for the clothing featured in the show we seen suits with exaggerated lapels and floral buttons, tailored suits with sewn on paper plane, vibrant colored moto jackets and shorts, a bright orange leather jacket with puzzle shapes on it, and much more.
