Last month, the boxing world was looking forward to watching rising star Keyshawn Davis take on the young but seasoned Esteban Sanchez, The fight was ultimately postponed due to an illness Davis came down with. Yesterday though, Davis made up for it with an excellent display of precision and power. Last night, Norfolk’s own Keyshawn Davis defeated Esteban Sanchez by way of TKO in the sixth round. Davis out Sanchez throughout the entire fight, both on offense and defense. Davis landed 43% of his punches (157/366) while only being hit 20 times. As the fight went on, Davis got in his rhythm and started to wear down Sanchez with sharp jabs and body shots that neutralized Sanchez.
In the sixth round, the 23-year-old began putting together combos that went unanswered. He connected on a right-hand uppercut that was followed by three clean and precise left hooks. As he continued to pummel Sanchez, the referee stepped in and stopped the fight.
In his post-fight interview, the 2021 Silver Medalist complimented Sanchez and said that he gave him a “challenge”. Davis now moves on to 5-0 (4 KO) in his career and is cementing himself as one of the biggest young stars in the sport.
