Kanye West’s “Grammy Worn” Prototype Nike Air Yeezy 1’s have sold for a record $1.8M in a private auction conducted by Sotheby’s. The coveted sneaker purchased by sneaker investment marketplace RARES was worn by Kanye West during his epic 2008 Grammy Performance of “Hey Mama” and “Stronger”. The sneakers Kanye West wore that night introduced the world to a redefined outlook on what a signature shoe could be. Designed by West and Nike Creative Director at the time Mark Smith, It was an entirely new silhouette, created for an artist rather than an athlete.
