Gervonta “Tank” Davis Proves His Power Can Translate To 140-Pounds with 11th Round TKO Against Barrios

It was never a question if Gervonta “Tank” Davis would increase his weight in an attempt to become a three weight class champion like his mentor Floyd Mayweather. If anything it was just a matter of when exactly he would do it. Just as Tank has proven throughout his career thus far. His toughness and drive to become the best is unmatched which led him to challenging and ultimately defeating a previously undefeated Marco Barrios at 140-lbs. The entertaining fight went 11-rounds with Barrios dominating early on in the first 5-rounds of the fight utilizing his dominant reach and height advantage. As the rounds progressed Davis would develop more comfortability leading to an eventual two knockdowns in round eight of the fight. Barrios somehow fought back to win the ninth round, prompting Floyd Mayweather to tell Davis in his corner: “On the unofficial (scorecard), you’re down.” Davis seemed irritated by the comment, but later accepted the feedback with a nod to his mentor. Barrios and Davis went back and forth in an electric tenth round, before Davis closed out the show in grand fashion in the eleventh. The win makes Davis improve to 25-0 with 24KO’s. In the post-fight interview Jim Gray asked Davis what’s next for him, to which he responded he would discuss his future with his team and go from there.
