Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to Twitter early Wednesday morning to make the groundbreaking announcement that Tesla would now be accepting Bitcoin as a payment option for purchasing vehicles. This comes just after last month’s announcement that the automaker had purchased $1.5 Billion worth of Bitcoin. On Tesla’s support page there is information regarding the process in purchasing the vehicle with the world-leading Cryptocurrency. Although he didn’t specify specific countries, Musk also later tweeted people outside the U.S. will be able to buy a Tesla with Bitcoin “later this year.” He added that Tesla “operates bitcoin nodes directly.” Nodes are computers on bitcoin’s network that work to verify transactions and avoid the cryptocurrency from being spent twice.
