Elon Musk Says X Will Charge Users Subscription Fees

As if Elon Musk couldn’t send X into a deeper spiral, he has now floated the idea that X could soon start charging users subscription fees. The announcement of this possibility came during a live-streamed conversation between Musk and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday. Musk mentioned that the company was “moving toward a small monthly payment.”

Musk suggested that this payment would help combat bots, stating, “It’s the only way I can think of to combat vast armies of bots because a bot costs a fraction of a penny, let’s call it a tenth of a penny. But even if it has to pay a few dollars or something, the effective cost of bots becomes very high.”

During this conversation, Musk also emphasized that X now boasts 550 million monthly users, who generate 100 to 200 million posts every day. Whether this information is accurate or not remains uncertain due to Musk’s history of creating false narratives and stretching the truth. Nonetheless, stay tuned for more information in the near future.
