Britney Griner’s Trial In Russia On Alleged Cannabis Possesion To Begin July 1st

WNBA star Brittney Griner has been detained in Russia since February 17th. Griner was arrested at the Moscow airport as she tried to flee the country amid their conflict with neighboring Ukraine. Griner was found with vape cartridges in her possession in Customs.

Three months later though, Griner has received a date for her trial, which is set to begin July 1st but her detention has been extended another 6 months. She will remain in custody for the duration of the trial and could see up to 10 years in prison if she is convicted.
