Throughout the playoffs, Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat have won with two different styles of play. The Lakers have dominated teams with their versatile superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis. In contrast, the Heat have relied on their stars, but it’s been more of a team effort. The two different playstyles came to a head during game one of the finals.
In the first quarter, Miami jumped out to a 13 point lead. But the Lakers quickly answered that with their run and finished the first quarter with the lead. From that point on, Los Angeles took charge and controlled the game. LeBron and Anthony Davis got whatever they wanted while Goran Dragic and Bam Adebayo both went out with injuries, which halted any shot of Miami cutting into the lead significantly. Between the second and third quarter, the Lakers outscored Miami 62-39.
The final score was 116-98. Anthony Davis led all scorers with 34 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks. LeBron James nearly had a triple-double, finishing with 25 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists. Jimmy Butler’s 23 points led Miami. Rookie Kendrick also scored 18 points off the bench for the Heat.
Miami will look to regroup to avoid going down 2-0 Friday on ESPN at 9 pm ET.
