Monday night, Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin announced they’d be patterning up to form a NASCAR team set to begin racing in 2021. Along with the announcement of the team, Jordan and Hamlin also announced they would field Bubba Wallace as the first driver of the team. In a press release Jordan said,
“Historically, NASCAR has struggled with diversity, and there have been few Black owners. The timing seemed perfect, as NASCAR is evolving and embracing social change more and more.”
