Game One of the Eastern Conference Finals was nothing short of a classic. The first half ended in a stalemate at 55, but in the second half, Boston took over the game, going up by 14 points. In the fourth quarter, Miami climbed back to tie the game late in the fourth and briefly took a one-point lead. On the Final possession, Jayson Tatum knocked down a free throw to tie the game at 106 but came up short on a pull up three for the win.
In overtime, both teams went back and forth again. With 23 seconds left, Kemba Walker knocked down one of his patented stepbacks to give the Celtics a one-point lead. Jimmy Butler answered for Miami by finishing an and-one layup to gain a one-point lead right back. But with 3 seconds left, Jayson Tatum drove passed Butler and elevated to the rim for a dunk, only for Bam Adebayo to negate his dunk attempt. Adebayo then went 1-2 at the free-throw line, giving the Heat a three-point lead, but Boston failed to tie the game at the buzzer giving Miami the victory in Game One 117-114. Jayson Tatum led all scorers with 30 points and also snagging 14 rebounds. Marcus Smart also had 26 points for the Celtics. Goran Dragic led Miami with 29 points, and Bam Adebayo finished with 18 points and nine assists. Game Two will be on ESPN, Thursday, September 17th, at 7 pm ET.
