Barack Obama Addresses The Nation Via Zoom

Former President Barack Obama addressed the nation yesterday via a live zoom call. Providing his viewpoint on the protests against police brutality, Obama voiced his support for the protests and called for a nation-wide police reform. He called for protesters to “Feel hopeful, even as you may feel angry and urged for “Real Change.” Obama called for protesters to continue to “Make the people at the top uncomfortable” while also practicing practical solutions to impact change. He said the following about voting,

“When we think about politics, a lot of us only focus on the presidency and the federal government and yes, we should be fighting to make sure that we have a president, a Congress, a U.S. Justice Department, and a Federal Judiciary that actually recognizes the ongoing, corrosive role that racism plays in our society and wang to do something about it… but the elected officials who matter most in reforming police departments and the criminal justice system work at the local and state levels.”
