Kopi Kenangan, A little known Indonesian coffee chain has landed big-name patronage in the form of backing from NBA player, Caris LaVert, Serena Williams’ Serena Ventures, Jay-Z’s Arrive, and Sweetgreen CEO, Jonathan Neman. Founded in 2017 by Edward Tirtanata, James Prenanto, and Cynthia Chaerunnisa, Kopi Kenangan strives to bridge the gap between cheap street vendor coffee and drinks priced at the higher end of the spectrum from international chain such as Starbucks. Kopi boasts savory options such as hazelnut, tiramisu lattes and their top-selling drink ‘Es Kopi Kenangan Mantan’ a sweet Indonesian coffee that uses palm sugar, among other local Southeast Asian beverages. Ingredients are all sourced locally. The funds from those superb investors will be used for further technological development, adding several new local stores and kiosks, and is expected to attack the overseas market by 2020. Stay tuned for more soon.
