Dr.Dre has been a notable solo figure in Hip Hop since the launch of his 1992 classic album ‘The Chronic’ which redefined the way West Coast hip hop would be created and heard for years to come. Through much anticipation and curiosity fans waited an entire seven years until Dre would release another classic album ‘2001‘ which released 20 years ago. The 23 song album feature hit tracks like Still D.R.E, Forgot About Dre, and The Next Episode, along with features from hip hop heavyweights Snoop Dogg, Mary J Blige and Eminem whom Dre recently said was the missing link during the hiatus between albums The Chronic and 2001. In a recent documentary produced by Apple Music to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the album Dre sat down with Jimmy Iovine to discuss everything relating to the album such as how the album came together, the key components to the album, where the album stands in history and much more.
