Today Norfolk’s very own Amir Driver released ‘Over Everything’ a nine track project which is solely himself aside from two tracks featuring Billy Mercury and singer Kori Nicole. After having a chance to speak with Amir we asked him to describe the project in his own terms and what he would like listeners to take from it and he stated “With Over Everything I wanted to give listeners a feel of mainstream HipHop, while still sonically providing a vibe that fits in with this time period. There’s a lot of alternative forms of sub genres in rap, or at least from my perspective, and I wanted to give people a new but familiar feel with this project. More than anything, I wanted people to know lyrics, style, delivery and content are still important and when partnered with the right production its a marriage, shit just works well together”. Take a listen to ‘Over Everything’ below and be sure to also check out the visual for his single ‘The Ruler’.
