Earlier this week at NYFW we saw the much-anticipated Yeezy Season 2 collection by Kanye West. However not everyone was anticipating the collection as the Season 2 collection was kept as a secret up until Sunday night when Kanye West tweeted
Monday designer Anne Bowen said in anger that the move left her scrambling for other plans to launch her street wear collection Nomad VII by Anne Bowen because she was booked the same time as Kanye. Anne also said to Women’s Wear Daily “We have been prepping for a year for this at considerable financial, labor- and commitment-cost to our company,” Bowen said. “Our show date has been scheduled for months and has been on the Fashion Calendar for weeks. We went through all the proper channels to make this a reality.” She went on further to say “Kanye knows he is a media sensation and it is just not ethical to do this,” said Bowen, who moved her show to Thursday and lodged a complaint with the Council of Fashion
Designers of America Fashion Calendar. “It’s like we are David and he is Goliath. We have put our heart and soul into our show, and should not be stepped on like this.” Kanye had no response to these statements but he did take to twitter on Monday tweeting that the show will also be streamed live in numerous cities around the globe. Tuesday a select list of people received their invite to the show in the mail which turned out to be a camouflaged long sleeve shirt that read season 2 across the front.
Wednesday at 12pm the show kicked off with a star studded guest list with names like Drake, Miguel, Weekend, Jadan Smith, Courtney Love, Anna Wintour, Michael Strahan, Ricardo Tisci, Common, Seth Meyers, Lorde, Andre Leon Talley, Jerry Lorenzo, Virgil Abloh, Kourtney Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and of course wife Kim Kardashian West and baby North West. This show’s clothing unlike the Yeezy Season 1 was not in collaboration with Adidas. Season 2 was categorized in light, medium and dark however all the clothing continued the same esthetic as Season 1 with an oversized semi worn and torn look. Here are some images of “Light” which had notable names like Amina Blue, Bella Hadid and Kylie Jenner modeling.
Here are some images of the “Medium” colorway which consisted of some hoodies and jackets. Some notable names that modeled the medium color way was young fashion sensations Luka Sabbat and Michael Lockley.
The “Dark” color way had the self proclaimed “King Of The Youth” Ian Connor modeling. Ian also smoked a cigarette during the show which caught much attention from the crowd and the internet.
The items that seemed to steal the show however of course was the footwear which we saw a Black 750, Light Brown 750 with what seems to be a translucent sole, Black 950 Boost,White 950 boots and also Off White 950 boots.
The collection overall seemed to receive mixed reviews similar to its predecessor Season 1. However I believe that this collection of clothing can be special and can possibly be the style clothing that will be worn in the near future I mean lets just be honest Kanye is typically 2 years ahead of everyone else. Only time will tell but in the mean time be on the lookout for Season 1 which is set to hit select retailers October 29th.
