Last night the boxing world and the entire sports world saw one of the greatest athletes of all time in his final act. Floyd Mayweather Jr. who may be pound for pound the greatest fighter of all time fought in his final fight for 49-0 against Andre Berto. Leading up to the fight it was said that Mayweather may be pushed to his brink by the furious scrappy Hatian Berto. However this fight turned out as all Mayweather fights typically do, Mayweather winning in dominant fashion. From beginning to end he dominated the fight forcing Berto to fight a style he is uncomfortable with. Mayweather repeatedly ducked and dodged Berto’s punches which led to Berto to landing a mere 83 out of 495 punches. The “Mayvinci Code” as Mayweather likes to call his defensive strategy was definitely in full effect from round 1 to the ending round 12. Mayweather danced around in the last round 12 in a jokingly manner for sometime understanding that he had the fight sealed after he landed a flurry of hard-hitting blows to Berto who’s legs began to wobble some. After the fight Mayweather was asked if that was indeed his final fight and he stated that it was without a doubt, feeling like he has no more to accomplish he will be walking away from the sport. Over the course of his career Mayweather has had an unfathomable amount of accomplishments. Defeating numerous greats such as Arturo Gatti, Oscar De La Hoya, Shane Mosely, Ricky Hatton and Manny Pacquiao all adding to his 49-0 record which ties boxing legend Rocky Marciano.
